Every appointment starts with a proper look — and honest advice.
Every appointment begins with a careful ear health check. Using a small camera (video otoscopy), I’ll examine your ear canal and eardrum and talk you through what I can see, right there on the screen.
If there’s wax to remove, I’ll remove it. If there’s nothing that needs treating — or if I think you’d be better seen by your GP — I’ll tell you honestly. You’ll never be charged for treatment you don’t need: if your ears are clear, it’s just the £30 check fee.

Common questions
What if there’s no wax to remove?
Then you’ll only pay the £30 check fee — never the full price. I’d always rather be honest than treat ears that don’t need it.
Can you tell if it’s something other than wax?
I’ll take a careful look and tell you what I can see. I don’t diagnose medical conditions — but if your symptoms suggest something other than wax, I’ll always recommend you see your GP.
Safety & suitability
Gentle for most — but honest about who should check first
Ear wax removal is very safe in trained hands, but no procedure is entirely risk-free. Occasionally people notice brief dizziness, a little temporary discomfort, or a faint ringing that quickly settles. I’ll always talk you through this first and stop the moment you want me to.
Please mention it before we start if you have:
- A known perforated eardrum, or grommets/ear-surgery in the past 12 months
- A current ear infection, discharge, or significant ear pain
- Recent dizziness, vertigo or sudden hearing loss
- Only one hearing ear, or a history of complications after wax removal
None of these rule you out automatically — they just mean I’ll take extra care, and sometimes suggest you see your GP first. If you’re unsure, call or text me on 07539 663189 and we’ll talk it through.
