A gentle, controlled flush — the modern, careful version of old-style syringing.
Water irrigation uses a gentle, controlled flow of warm water to flush wax away. It’s the modern, careful version of the old ‘syringing’ — nothing like as forceful — and it’s particularly handy when wax is stubborn or very firm.
I’ll always take a careful look first and only use irrigation when it’s the right choice for your ears. Often I’ll start with microsuction and finish with a gentle flush if needed — whatever it takes to get you hearing clearly again, comfortably.
I check your ear with a small camera to make sure irrigation is suitable for you.
A controlled flow of warm water gently loosens and flushes the wax away — at a pressure that’s comfortable.
I’ll show you the result and make sure your ear is clear and comfortable.
It’s the modern, gentler version. Instead of a forceful syringe, I use a controlled flow of warm water at a comfortable pressure, after checking your ear is suitable first.
Yes — for the best results, use a little olive oil or Earol spray two or three times a day for a few days before your appointment. Softer wax flushes away far more easily and comfortably.
Safety & suitability
Ear wax removal is very safe in trained hands, but no procedure is entirely risk-free. Occasionally people notice brief dizziness, a little temporary discomfort, or a faint ringing that quickly settles. I’ll always talk you through this first and stop the moment you want me to.
None of these rule you out automatically — they just mean I’ll take extra care, and sometimes suggest you see your GP first. If you’re unsure, call or text me on 07539 663189 and we’ll talk it through.
I bring water irrigation to your home across Bude, Holsworthy, Launceston and the surrounding villages.
